Privacy Policy

How this site handles your information: no accounts, no personal profiles, and most data stays on your own device.

Last updated: May 2026

What we do not collect

This is a small, independent project run from the Netherlands, and there are no user accounts anywhere on the site: there is nothing to register for, no login, and no password. We do not build personal profiles of you. When you look up the weather for a place and dates, the request sent to the Open-Meteo weather service contains only the geographic coordinates and the start and end dates you chose. No name, email address or account identifier is attached to those requests, because none exists.

Information stored on your own device

Several small pieces of data are kept in your browser's local storage so the site is useful between visits, and they remain on your device rather than being sent to us. These include your consent record (under the key cookie-consent-v2), your recent searches and a remembered top destination (under the keys vakantieweer_recent_searches and vakantieweer_top_destination), your weather preferences and packing notes, and a cache of previously fetched weather results. Clearing your browser storage removes all of this.

Third parties and advertising

Advertising on this site is provided by Google AdSense. Adverts only ever load after you have given consent for advertising storage: the ad code checks your stored consent first and shows nothing until you have agreed. With consent, Google's consent mode is also updated to reflect your choices for advertising and analytics. The site may additionally show optional affiliate links to third-party travel sites such as Booking and Skyscanner; these only take you to those external sites if you choose to click them, and each has its own privacy policy.

Cookies and managing your consent

Your advertising and analytics choices are recorded locally in your browser under the key cookie-consent-v2, together with a timestamp. Strictly necessary functionality does not require your agreement, but advertising and analytics are off until you opt in. You can review, change or withdraw your consent at any time by reopening the in-app consent settings, which immediately updates Google's consent mode so that any previously granted permissions are revoked.

Your choices and contacting us

Because there are no accounts and we do not collect personal profiles, the practical controls are in your hands: you can clear your browser's local storage, decline or withdraw advertising and analytics consent, and avoid clicking the optional affiliate links. We have not invented retention periods or a formal legal entity for what the code does not define. If you have a question about privacy or your data, please get in touch through the contact page, where the email address for the project is shown.
